From a young age, Sam was introduced to the waters of Hatteras Island. Coming from a local fishing family, it was in his blood. As a teenager, Sam mated on the charter boats that his father ran out of Teach’s Lair marina. Once he graduated high school he was introduced to kiteboarding. He immediately felt drawn to the sport. Being an avid surfer, now there was a way that he could expand on his love of surfing, even on windy days. Sam began kiteboarding in 2002 and began coaching in 2002. His talent gained the attention of industry professionals and landed him a sponsorship with Litewave Kiteboards, Dakine and Smith Optics. From there Sammy traveled around the world teaching and kiting. 

 

After a few years of travel, Sammy took his commitment to the sport to the next level and gained a sponsorship with Naish Kiteboarding as a national team rider. Around this time Sam also received his captains license. He then captained and taught many kiting charters in the British Virgin Islands. In 2012 Sam decided it was time to start his own charter business, introducing the birth of Tightlinez Charters. Sam wanted to incorporate his love of both fishing and kiting together. Since day one, client satisfaction and quality instruction is Sam’s main focus and goal for all TIghtlinez Charter customers.
